Atlantic City is famed for being the place for those who are serious about making money. Since its early days, this New Jersey hot spot has been rolling out the good times, whether you like to have your fun at a gaming table or simply having too much of a good time like this town in the heady days of prohibition and the speak easy! This might not be Las Vegas strip, but it’s a class above the likes of the Golden Nugget Casino and other joints downtown in Sin City.

Now the lucky guys and gals who make their way to this heaven for gamblers don’t have to hide their escapades and there’s a whole lotta of fun to be had right here. I let my feet do the talking and went to check out the city’s swanky Borgata Hotel Casino, part of the mega business, MGM Resorts.

The Borgata experience starts with your eyes, it has to be said that this place is a looker with grand modern styling. And its not a case of looks over substance either with 14 roulette tables on offer for me to spin my night away at. But oh if your bent runs to other table games then you’ll be thrilled to hear that there are 180 to pick from! Atlantic City may not be as picturesque as Northern Greece where the Porto Carras Grand Resort is located, but it packs a punch when it comes to casinos.

The croupiers are very professional and while I was there this place offered me some great hospitality. I would say that they are a cut above some of the staff I have played with in places like the Casino Aviator in Georgia and NagaWorld in Cambodia.

If video roulette piques your interest, then Borgata can spoil you with a selection of double zero games which use the ever popular Le Partage rule. What’s so exciting about this, apart from there being a whole other world of roulette game is that this set up reduces the house’s edge in favour of the player. Now in the States those margins are very attractive, especially to European players like me.

As with all big casinos there are a whole load of slots, around 3,000 on offer, if that’s how you take a break from the roulette games.

Borgata’s casino is undoubtedly a slick affair which has conjured up a lavish setting for a great game of roulette and might be just enough to get you into the mode of being a James or Jemima Bond!

If you’re gambling passion is poker then you’ll doubtless be happy to hear that this casino offers a daily tournament! And for turf fans there’s a Race and Turf Book where you can place your bets on live sporting events and the gee gees.

For those of you who find that water is your spiritual home then you’ll be delighted to learn that this spot offers a world of watery fun with indoor and outdoor swimming pools- there can hardly have been more wet fun to be had since Kevin Costner donned his fins for Waterworld!

If entertainment is what you crave after cleaning up on the roulette wheel then the big name acts that play live here might lure you away from the bustle and atmosphere of the roulette games which are buzzy.

For kicking back there’s an award-wining spa or even a nightclub on a grand scale and bars aplenty. The Borgata doesn’t quite hit the heights of the Mandarin Orintal in Las Vegas, but it doesn’t do badly.

If you’re idea of a break from a game is grabbing something to eat then at Borgata you’ll be able to choose to your heart’s content from a classic steak to Asian cuisine, all on show for your delectation.

The bright casino floor is smart and clean and makes for a luxurious roulette experience, but the downside is the casino can be smoky in places, although the smoking areas are thankfully segregated, but you may well come out smelling smoky if you’ve been enjoying the casino.

All in all Borgata is a remarkably pleasant place to play roulette in Atlantic City and with courteous staff and that nifty double zero video roulette- I’ll be more than happy to make a return visit to this glamorous casino.
